The utilisation of sound has been enhanced by exquisite choreography in both movement and script. Not hard to see how this franchise has flourished. Loved the splicing of scenes and action. 8/10.
Re-watching this, I think I actually enjoyed it more than the first movie. The action was better (thanks John Woo!) and the effects were less … dated. It’s amazing the difference four years makes. The mask reveals were less obnoxious, but Sir Antony Hopkins’ line about “This isn’t Mission Difficult, it’s Mission Impossible” is still terrible. The Australian setting was spectacular (especially for someone born in Sydney) and it was great to see it used as itself and not a stand-in for Anytown USA (like in the Matrix). Fun in the sun. 8/10.
