Death on the Nile (2022)

Emmy says: A very gorgeous movie. Interesting characters on a stunning boat. Loved the music. Enjoyable film 8/10.

Jeff says: Better than 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express, Branagh seems to have figured out how to direct himself as Poirot. While more emotional than the book character, he’s better for it on screen. The film itself is utterly gorgeous to watch, and incredible to think that none of it was on location. Unlike its predecessor, it was grounded in reality, letting the scenes speak for themselves without resorting to gimmicks. Sticks close enough to the novel that there were few surprises, but that’s not what you watch Agatha Christie adaptations for. Worth the runtime, and this time I don’t mind the idea of another coming. 8/10.
